Just down the road from downtown Brockville sits this magnificent estate, where you can experience what life was like for Canada’s elite at the turn of the century!

Located in Brockville, overlooking the St. Lawrence River, Fulford Place is a magnificent 20,000 sq. foot mansion built between 1899-1901 for self-made millionaire and Senator, George T. Fulford. The mansion and its collection were donated to the Ontario Heritage Trust in 1991. Items from the collection are exhibited in the house as they were over 100 years ago. The Trust's extensive restoration of Fulford Place brings to life the glamorous lifestyle of the early 20th century’s new aristocracy - the business tycoon. Fulford Place offers seasonal events, educational programming, guided tours and a Tea Room serving lunch and afternoon tea.

What You'll See

  • Sip tea on the patio of this magnificent Edwardian mansion overlooking the mighty St. Lawrence River. Experience the baronial feel of the Honduras mahogany ceilings and panelled walls in the dining room, library and grand hall. Marvel at the original tapestries, paintings and furnishings that made Fulford Place an ideal residence in which to entertain royalty and Prime Ministers.
  • Original tapestries, paintings, statuary and ceramics collected on the Fulfords’ world travels are on display throughout the period rooms and are featured in special exhibits. The grand style of the Beaux Art house was ideally suited to the Fulfords, as they entertained Canadian Prime Ministers, British princes and the neighbouring well-to-do whose grand “cottages” lined the St. Lawrence River.
  • The new exhibition, Elegance Recalled, features artifacts, including slop bowls, smelling salts, pushers and studs that highlight the luxurious lifestyle of the Fulford family. Today, many of these items are no longer part of everyday life. Learn about intriguing items as you admire their beauty and fine craftsmanship.
