This is one of the top five summer theatre festivals in Ontario. It operates two fully renovated historic venues side by side on the banks of the St. Lawrence River in Gananoque - the 360-seat Springer Theatre and the 140-seat Firehall Theatre.

Thousand Islands Playhouse operates two fully renovated historic venues side by side on the banks of the St. Lawrence River in Gananoque - the 360-seat Springer Theatre and the 140-seat Firehall Theatre. It produces seven to ten productions annually, using professional talent (designers, directors, scenic artists and performers) from across the country. TIP is one of the top five summer festivals in Ontario, along with the Shaw and Stratford Festivals, Soulpepper and Drayton Entertainment, and is the most active theatre in Eastern Ontario.

What You'll See

  • 7 productions are planned for 2013 including drama, musicals and comedy.
  • The Monday night Studio ‘S’ Concert and Conversation series hosted by Eric Friesen in July and August.
  • The theatres are intimately sized with a verandah overlooking the River and docking space.
  • The Springer Theatre is equipped with an infrared hearing assistance system and there are a limited number of headsets available from the box office.
